Sanskriti is an exciting heritage project that explored the themes of migration, impact of the textile industry, and rites of passage.
Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Rayne Foundation the project explored the heritage of the South Asian community and its interaction and experience with that of Northern Ireland.
The most important part of the project was development of links with new community groups and volunteers. The South Asian and local community were welcomed onboard by the creation of workshops and events that explored their experiences, memory, heritage and culture.
“Making the connections between Indian heritage and working class communities in Northern Ireland aswell as Mackies, Sirocco Works and the linen industry has provided fascinating cultural and historical ties between these two nations”.
