Awake the Living Dead across Cathedral Quarter
A spectacular Día de los Muertos celebration
This Halloween, Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter comes alive with colour, music, dance, fire and spectacular street performance as Artsekta presents a vibrant celebration of Día de los Muertos.
Taking place on Saturday 31 October from 5–8pm, this free, family-friendly event will fill the streets and hidden corners of the Cathedral Quarter with pop-up performances and colourful characters inspired by the traditions and imagery of the Mexican Day of the Dead.
Follow the festivities through Hill Street, Cotton Court, Commercial Court and St Anne’s Square, where you’ll discover live music, drumming, dance, fire performance and larger-than-life characters appearing throughout the evening.
Expect Mexican Día de los Muertos dancers, live musicians and drummers, fire performers, stilt walkers and plenty of surprises as the Cathedral Quarter is transformed for one unforgettable evening.
The Skull Procession – 7pm
At 7pm, head to Hill Street for the highlight of the night – a spectacular Día de los Muertos Skull Procession.
Watch as dancers, drummers, fire performers, stilt walkers and giant characters take to the street, joined by a magnificent Sugar Skull Crane and a host of colourful creations.
Whether you stay for the whole evening or drop in to catch a performance, there’ll be something new to discover around every corner.
