This ambitious three year performing arts project aimed to create a new community production inspired by the work of esteemed Northern Irish poet Seamus Heaney.
Developed in partnership with Kabosh Theatre Company and the Seamus Heaney Homeplace the project worked with diverse communities across the Mid Ulster area to represent a unique intercultural, intergenerational and cross-community exploration of contemporary society in Northern Ireland.
Inspired by Seamus Heaney’s final collection of poems Human Chain, the project examined the realities of humanity – what it means to be a husband and wife, child and parent, friend, neighbour, colleague. The poems explore eternally relevant questions of transmission, the weight of tradition and connections to an inherited past.
This programme is supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland through the National Lottery, Community Relations Council and Halifax Foundation.
