Step into a world of colour, light and celebration as Silk Road Journeys returns with an immersive evening inspired by Diwali, the Festival of Light.

Celebrated by millions of people around the world, Diwali is a time for gathering with family and friends, sharing food, illuminating homes and celebrating the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

For one special evening, we’ll bring the warmth and energy of the festival to life through food, creativity, music and shared experiences.

This isn’t your usual night out. Come ready to get involved, try something new and celebrate with us!

What to Expect

• A Diwali Feast – Enjoy a colourful selection of tasting dishes served throughout the evening, inspired by the foods enjoyed during times of celebration. Expect street-food favourites, warming curries, fragrant accompaniments and plenty of sweet treats. Full menu coming soon.
• Diya Painting Workshop – Get creative and decorate your own traditional clay diya, the small oil lamps illuminated during Diwali as symbols of light and hope. Create something beautiful to take home and light during the festive season.
• Live Dosa Demonstration & Tasting – Watch the skill behind one of South India’s best-loved dishes as our chef prepares dosa fresh before your eyes. Discover how the thin, crisp pancakes are made on the hot plate before sampling them with traditional accompaniments
• Live Cultural Performance – Experience the energy of Diwali through live Indian music and dance, bringing colour, rhythm and celebration into the heart of the evening.
• Chai Wallah Tea Experience – Finish the evening with the sights, sounds and aromas of Indian street-side chai culture. Enjoy freshly brewed masala chai served Chai Wallah-style alongside traditional Indian sweets – a warm and playful finale to our Festival of Light celebration.

Silk Road Journeys is about experiencing culture rather than simply observing it. Throughout the evening, you’ll move between food, creative activities and entertainment, discovering some of the traditions and stories associated with Diwali along the way. Expect glowing diyas, vibrant colour, delicious aromas, music, laughter and plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Created by ArtsEkta, Silk Road Journeys is our series of immersive cultural experiences inspired by the people, traditions and stories found along and beyond the historic Silk Road.

Each journey transports you somewhere new through food, creativity, performance and participation – bringing cultures to life and creating opportunities to connect, learn and celebrate together.

Tickets cost £45pp including booking fees. Spaces are limited to keep the workshops intimate and interactive. This event is BYO, feel free to bring your own bottle to sip on their through the evening. 18+ only.
